The ski rooms in one of North America's largest skiing areas have been fitted with electronic LEGIC locks from GANTNER
The winter sports paradise of Northstar on Lake Tahoe on the border between California and Nevada belongs to Booth Creek Resorts, a private company employing 6,400 people. Booth Creek Resorts is comprised of six giant winter sports resorts in various American states, with a total of 75 ski lifts and 2.2 million visitors annually. With its excellent piste conditions and superb quality of service, Northstar is one of the top 30 ski resorts in North America and is approximately 320 kilometres from San Francisco Bay.
The ski room lockers and high-tech family lockers with integrated ski boot heating that were newly installed in the winter of 2005 were fitted with battery-operated GAT Lock 6000 locker locks. They are operated via LEGIC data carriers integrated in a user pass, with each family member receiving their own card for family lockers. The LEGIC locking system has proved very popular among Northstar guests thanks to their ease of use, and will be supplemented next winter by an electronic access control system for access to the ski room. The entire ski rental system comes from a company, which, like GANTNER, had its origins on the Austrian ski runs. "Snowell USA" is based in Colorado in the Rocky Mountains and since 1994 has been very successfully involved in setting up ski rental stations and leasing grinding & polishing workshops in the renowned winter sports centres from Aspen to Vail. The largest of the ski rental stations in North America, which now number 100, is the one in Northstar with 4,000 pairs of skis and 1,000 snowboards.
