Nucleus Connect is a wholesale provider of broadband services, selected by Info-communications Development Authority of Singapore (IDA Singapore) to be the Operating Company for Singapore's Next Generation Nationwide Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN). Nucleus Connect is responsible for designing, building and operating the active infrastructure of Singapore's Next Gen NBN.
To secure infrastructure, Nucleus Connect required a competitive, yet highly secure access control system to secure and monitor entry/exit to Central Offices Suites, Generator Rooms and Switch Rooms. Offering a TCP/IP security solution, CEM eDCM 300 intelligent two door IP controllers were chosen to interface with third party card readers.

The eDCM 300 is a low cost intelligent two-door controller that is designed to interface third-party read heads with the CEM AC2000 system. Featuring an internal database with the ability to hold up to 200,000 cardholders records and up to 8,000 transactions offline, the eDCM 300 offers 24/7 access control card validation; a solution that is not normally available when using non-CEM readers. With such a large internal memory and fully integrated IP protocol with the third party reader, the eDCM 300 offers the industry a competitive, yet advanced and reliable two door controller. Cardholder requests to the Nucleus Connect Central Offices will continue to be validated at all times; even if communication has been temporarily lost from the main AC2000 Lite system controller.
"AC2000 Lite is a feature rich, yet affordable access control system for installations up to 128 doors," said Andrew Fulton, Director of CEM Products, CEM Systems. "The security management system features an all-inclusive range of security modules on one CD, including the CEM AC2000 VIPPS ID badging application for designing, printing and validating all cards on the system. The CEM AC2000 AED (Alarm Event Display) application will also provide a MAP overview of the Nucleus Connect Central Offices controlled areas and their associated alarms/events."
The AC2000 AED application provides security staff with a graphical and textual representation of the status of the entire AC2000 Lite system. AED responds to all situations in real time and provides a dynamic on-screen view of alarms and associated readers. This means that if a door was forced and an alarm triggered in say the Generator Room, security guards are able to respond to the alarm immediately and accurately.
"CEM offered us great support for this project, both in terms of sales and technical support," said Hanwei Lee, Service Manager, Tyco Singapore. "I was very impressed with the short lead time for the delivery of the CEM products and we will definitely recommend CEM products to our future clients."
