Baylor Medical Center at Uptown in Dallas, Texas is being secured by CEM's security management system |
CEM Systems, part of Tyco Security Products, announced today that the CEM AC2000 Lite security management system has been selected by Access Technology Systems to secure the Baylor Medical Center at Uptown located in Dallas, Texas.
Baylor Medical Center at Uptown is a state-of-the-art surgical hospital opening in the Dallas Uptown area in January 2011. Specialties and services will include Orthopaedic, Spine, Pain Management, General, Plastic, and Ear, Nose, and Throat surgery.
Putting safety and the care of their patients at the forefront, Baylor Medical Center at Uptown required a proven access control system which offers integrated biometric security as well as the ability to work with third party systems. Access Technology Systems selected the CEM AC2000 Lite security management system to meet these requirements.
The CEM S610f fingerprint reader was central to the system design at the Baylor Medical Center. In addition to fingerprint security, the S610f reader features an internal database for offline card validation, a keypad for PIN verification and an LCD for displaying meaningful messages such as ‘Card Expiring' and ‘Access Granted'.
"The primary reason for choosing CEM was based on the strength of CEM S610f readers and their ability to provide integrated template management" said Jamie Finegan, Vice President of Business Development at Access Technology Systems Inc. "The integrated biometric system means that staff at the hospital can administrate cardholders via one user-friendly interface, without needing a separate biometric network. Biometric templates are then encrypted and fully distributed from the server to the S610f reader internal database" continued Finegan.
The S610f fingerprint reader will be used to secure critical areas in the hospital including the pharmacy, HR department, central files area, elevators and consultation rooms. For areas where security is less critical, the hospital will be utilising the CEM eDCM 300 (Ethernet door control module) - an intelligent device which allows third party read heads to be interfaced directly to the AC2000 Lite Controller. The device also offers offline card validation using an internal database which ensures security measures are operational at all times.
The AC2000 Lite system offers the client a feature rich solution which provides a variety of applications including AC2000 AED (Alarm Event Display), an integrated alarm processing application which provides dynamic graphical representation of all system events. In addition, CEM's AC2000 External Systems application means that the hospital can interface the AC2000 Lite system to their existing video management system without the need for costly development work.
With construction work at the site well under way, Baylor Medical Center at Uptown can be assured of the highest level of security when it opens in 2011.
