CNL has been selected by CIBER Inc. to provide the integration and information management platform for the Georgia Port Authority (GPA). The Georgia Port Authority (GPA) consists of four ports in the Savannah Georgia area. The combination of these ports ensures that the GPA is one of the largest, most efficient and fastest growing single container port in the US. In fact, the GPA's aggressive expansion targets will see annual capacity nearly double from 3.5 million containers to 6.5 million by 2018.
The GPA has always been innovative, creating flexible operational solutions to meet the demands of international business. With heighten security concerns across all critical infrastructure sites in the US, the GPA applied some of this innovative thinking into creating an industry leading physical security solution.
Protecting the port from theft, activism, terrorism and all other forms of crime requires high levels of security. Over the years the port has deployed a wide range of physical security systems to address these security challenges. This latest enhancement will see all of these systems working together through the IPSecurityCentre integration and management platform, aggregating intelligence from these to increase situational awareness.
The solution provided by CIBER Federal, a division of CIBER, Inc. will allow centralised command and control capability for all of the sites from one location. It consists of various security systems and services, including integrated and comprehensive video surveillance, wireless communications, radar, TWIC compliant access control, and a Command & Control solution for the port. These are provided by a range of leading manufacturers including; OnSSi, AMAG, Obstek and Flir. Matt Kushner, CNL President, of Americas says: "We are pleased CIBER has selected IPSecurityCenter for this critical Homeland Defense initiative. As one of the largest ports in the US and a huge contributor to the US economy, it is essential that security is World-Class. The selection of IPSecurityCenter will ensure they have consistently high levels of emergency preparedness at all times across all sites."
