The Security Alliance announces the way forward on Regulation
Security Alliance sets up working groups in  accordance with future regulatory framework
The Security Alliance recently released details of the working groups that would be created to review the recommendations for a future regulatory framework shortly to be published by the Security Industry Authority.

The working groups will have two key functions:

  • A number of Process Groups established to look in detail at the proposed operating model
  • A number of Sector groups that will review the model and consider its relative impact on their own sectors

The Process Groups will address:

  • The mechanics of the intended process
  • Compliance and enforcement
  • Future standards development
  • Skills development
  • Business licensing
  • Administration and finance

The Sector Groups will represent:

  • Guarding, Keyholding and Response
  • Public Space Surveillance
  • Door Supervisors - the Night Economy and Events
  • Close Protection
  • CVIT
  • Devolved Governments, including Wales

These groups will initially focus on the current scope of licensable activity (unless broadened in the SIA's proposals). However, further working groups may be created to address the needs of other sectors, if there is a pressing need to do so.

Those companies or individuals interested in participating one or more of the working groups should contact one of the following:
