The issues surrounding surveillance and security are never static and so require the development of new technologies to keep up with the changing demands. In response, the electronic security sector has developed a very dynamic approach to introducing new technologies.
You will be able to see first hand a range of fascinating advancements at LIVE08, a few of which are mentioned below.
Axis, the world leader in network video, now announces the first products with H.264 in a new generation of network video products - cameras, encoders and video management software - that offer: simplified deployment and management of large-scale video surveillance systems; more cost-efficient system solutions; and higher image quality and optimised video streams. Features include H.264 compression, multiple individual video streams, local video storage and built-in intelligence which all add great value to any professional video surveillance application.
Lighting specialists Derwent designed and developed the AEGIS range of illuminators which combine innovations in lighting and product design to create a unique product which answers long standing performance related issues identified by security consultants, installers and end users alike. AEGIS UFLED is the only illuminator to feature Constant Light technology which automatically controls and adjusts light output to compensate for LED degradation. LED degradation is a problem common with all LED illuminators and results in poor light output, reduced image quality and reduced illumination range. Derwent have recently released a white light version of the popular AEGIS unit for security applications requiring visible light.
Net2 nano from Paxton Access uses secure wireless technology to communicate with the server PC via either a Net2Air USB bridge or a Net2Air ethernet bridge. This removes the need to run a dedicated data cable around a site and reduces installation time and costs considerably. Net2 nano are perfect for open plan offices and at access points where wiring may prove difficult. The Net2Air USB Bridge connects directly to the server PC and has a wireless range of up to 30m. The Net2Air Ethernet Bridge has the same range but extends the capability of Net2 nano using an existing Ethernet network.
Raytec launches its new higher power, energy saving, White-Light LED illuminators. They have an increased power output of greater than 50% which improves distance performance up to 240m, whilst their low energy consumption offers low running costs and zero maintenance. "In today's economic and environmental climate, our high performance and high power range of RAYLUX White-Light illuminators are perfect for end-users and installers who want to save on costs and energy", says David Lambert, sales and marketing director of Raytec. RAYLUX high power White-Light LED Illuminators push the technology barrier to new levels, providing green solutions whilst delivering optimum image performance for any colour CCTV system at night.
DIGIgarde from TDSi is a biometric optical fingerprint reader with unparalleled performance. Compact and versatile, DIGIgarde is capable of storing up to 9,000 user templates. A high resolution (500 dpi) optical sensor is capable of scanning fingers of all shapes and sizes and also has an extremely high resistance to electro-static damage. The matching algorithm provides quick and accurate identification of users, maximising user convenience. The reader also has a high degree of tolerance to rotational finger position. Featuring an industry standard reader interface, DIGIgarde can be connected to TDSi or third-party access control units.
If you need to keep an eye on what the people operating your CCTV systems are monitoring, Vista has a solution. The new VFS-L20B-MD is a high quality flat screen monitor with built-in MiniD DVR. This tiny DVR allows recording at up to 25ips at CIF onto a removable SD memory card, allowing you to monitor all that is seen on the screen. You can now create an audit trail using the real-time recording to record all operator camera selections and controls prior, during and post any event. Audio recording of all operator conversations and any warning commands given are similarly recorded for your records.
