Abloy UK classroom on access control solutions in progress
Abloy UK is running a calendar of events at the Academy
Abloy UK has hosted its first customer event at the brand new ASSA ABLOY Academy in Portobello, West Midlands, providing locksmiths, access control specialists and systems integrators with an exclusive first look at the new, state-of-the-art training facilities.

The Academy includes a fully equipped classroom, showroom and workshop, where customers can attend product presentations, specification seminars and practical installation training.

The new facilities are also being made available to customers and their end-users, who can use the Academy as a venue for their own internal staff training or client presentations, meetings and events.

Abloy UK is running a calendar of events at the Academy aimed at installers, security managers, lock centres, specifiers and end-users. Courses range from a Foundations introduction to door set specification to hands-on training in electric and mechanical locks, and specification seminars on security solutions for health and education facilities.

Originally built and pioneered at the Abloy UK site in Watford, the Academy has been relocated and redeveloped to provide even better training facilities, in advance of Abloy UK's move to the ASSA ABLOY UK head office in Portobello in 2011.

Matt Thomas, Managing Director of Abloy UK, said: "The new Academy has been designed to help us work in partnership with customers, so although we do offer courses, we want customers to bring end-users here so we can develop solutions together."

"We recognise that the high performance of our products can only be realised by the abilities of the people who install them and our new Academy provides the highest standard of training."

Feedback from the Academy's first visitors has been extremely positive.

Kevin Harcourt of Global Security Group said: "I think the new Academy is very professionally put together. I will definitely be bringing customers and team members here for training. The training facilities are excellent and it's a good chance to get your hands on the products and see exactly how they work."
