IMS Research expands into Korea
IMS Research is planning to further expand its presence in Asia
As part of its strategy to provide an analyst and sales presence in all key global markets, IMS Research announced that it has opened an office in Seoul, South Korea.

Commenting on the reasons behind this expansion, IMS Research's President, Ian Weightman, stated: "We are continuing to expand our coverage of markets such as LEDs, Displays, Consumer Electronics, Semiconductors and PV, and an analyst presence in Korea is vital to ensure we have a deep understanding of the dynamics that will drive these markets. In addition, having a direct sales presence in Seoul will enable us to serve our Korean clients better."

The Korean operation is headed by Harry (Sung Dong) Cho, who has significant industry experience through his previous positions as VP of Sales and Marketing at Indilinx in Korea, VP of the Multimedia Division of PQI in Taiwan, and in engineering, marketing and sales positions at Samsung Semiconductor.

The analyst team is bolstered by the addition of Dkins (Dae Kwon) Cho, who has joined IMS Research as a Senior Analyst for LEDs and Displays. He was previously Director of LED Sales at Dominant Semiconductors Korea, and has also held engineering and sales positions at LG International and LG Semicon.

IMS Research is planning to further expand its presence in Asia, as Weightman explains: "In addition to our European and US operations, we now have analyst teams in China, Korea and Taiwan. Our next step will be to enhance our presence in Japan by opening offices in Tokyo. This will enable us to better support our local clients, and improve our research and analysis of markets such as TVs, displays, LEDs, semiconductors, PV, automotive electronics and industrial automation."
