HID Global will incorporate NXP's MIFARE™ technology into its multi-standard physical and logical access readers and software |
HID Global, trusted leader in solutions for the delivery of secure identity, and NXP Semiconductors N.V. announced that HID Global will integrate NXP's MIFARE™ technology into its multi-standard physical and logical access readers and software.
By integrating MIFARE technology directly into readers and terminals, HID Global products become more versatile, enabling HID's partners to easily support multiple technologies in their installations. HID's Trusted Identity Platform™ (TIP) will be used to provide a secure delivery infrastructure for updating HID readers to support NXP's latest card technologies, including MIFARE DESFire EV1 and MIFARE Plus, as well as reader lifecycle management. This will also allow readers and terminals to support HID's next generation Secure Identity Object (SIO) on MIFARE platforms.
"Fully integrating MIFARE, the world's leading contactless technology platform, into our solution portfolio via this technology license will allow HID to extend our market leadership in delivering secure identity solutions to governments and corporations worldwide," said Dr. Tam Hulusi, Senior Vice President with HID Global.
"NXP is already our trusted supplier of ICs and microcontrollers for our readers, as well as for our inlays and credentials. With the emergence of Near Field Communications (NFC) applications and the growing need for mobility and security, our customers face new challenges that require new, future-proof solutions. We are pleased to partner with NXP to help fuel this market and bring access management systems to the next level."
"We are truly excited to collaborate with HID Global," said Henri Ardevol, Vice President and General Manager, Secure Transactions at NXP Semiconductors. "HID is the proven market leader in access management applications, and NXP's MIFARE contactless technology is the world's most trusted and widely used, open-architecture contactless platform for end-to-end solutions, from traditional smartcards to connected mobile devices. Together, NXP and HID will accelerate their growth in the access management market by broadening market adoption for these exciting technologies."
