Hirsch Electronics, a leading manufacturer of high security access control systems, has been awarded the Security Industry Association's prestigious Product Achievement Award in the Training category for Hirsch's Velocity™ Integrated Learning Strategy.
"Hirsch has always been well known for top-quality training, so it is particularly gratifying to have SIA formally recognize Hirsch with this award," commented Scott Chillemi, Manager of Hirsch's Learning Centre. "Not only do we teach the entire Hirsch product line, but our dealers also learn highly-sought after IT-related skills, enabling them to successfully implement and manage complete systems. They also receive all the tools and materials needed to train end-users. In turn, end-users gain high confidence in their system and dealer because of the wealth of training and support information available."
Velocity is Hirsch's flagship Security Management System software. The Velocity Integrated Learning Strategy provides integrators, dealers and end-users a variety of training content and media types, enabling each student to learn using the format most effective for him or her.
Components of the Velocity Integrated Learning Strategy include the following:
- Instructor-led courses: Each student receives hands-on instruction on a dedicated computer, controller and readers by professional trainers with expertise in instructional design and adult learning. And, unlike many other manufacturers, Hirsch teaches components of the Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MSCE) program, enabling dealers to learn critical skills in the areas of operating systems, networking, and integration of disparate product technologies.
- E-learning tutorials: These video-like demos display screen images, a moving cursor and an audio overlay that explains the processes verbally. More than fifty e-learning modules are available.
- Embedded help system: The software's extensive help system is context-sensitive, heavily-indexed, searchable, modularized in small chucks, and does not require internet access.
- Paper-based reference manuals: An Installation Guide, Administrator's Manual and Operator's Guide are targeted to the specific job functions to ensure quick reference and relevance.
